90 percent of its surface is covered with oceans. It is a habitable nitrogen oxygen world. But extreme climate can be quite a problem for sapient life. The days are extremely long with a temperature of 53 degrees Celsius and nights at 24 degrees in the temperate regions.

But is this really hostile environment? Though it is just the temperate areas but 24 degrees Celsius at night is rather nice and temperatures of 53 degress Celsius are often reached at places in Saudi Arabia. But sitting in BioWare’s Edmonton, Canada offices may make people feel 53 degrees Celsius as hostile climate but it is just summer time climate in Saudi Arabia. But of course -20 degrees in Edmonton during winter may seem hostile to those living in warmer regions.

The climate of Yamm cannot be that bad as it has a population of half a million. Hopefully after this no one will take the planet codex seriously.

No clear reason has been announced as to the reason for not releasing the PC version but a brief statement mentioned it is not in plan as of now.

This is a contradiction to EA’s previous claims that they will back this new IP fully. The disappointing sales of the original and the Wii version Dead Space Extraction should have made them try and increase their profit margin by releasing it for the PC. But maybe poor sales of Dead Space on PC last time compelled them to think it is not worth releasing the PC version.

Dead Space 2 is to be released in early 2011.

Dead Space 2 was listed as a console and hand held title at EA’s financial results reporting. No mention of a PC title was made. Probably it was not just that they overlooked it but rather it was a probable sign. This was proved after EA announced that the PC sku was not in the plans.

As for the people who played the first game on the PC and enjoyed the better graphics, it will be a sad loss.

The web forum NeoGAF points out that a Japanese gaming news source Dengeki says a possible sequel for the ultra challenging game released the previous year could be out this fall. The gameplay promises to have interesting and new systems. However this is not an official confirmation.

Sony has signed a first look deal if developer From Software made a sequel. The game is exclusively for the PS3 and Sony Computer Entertainment published the title in Japan.

From software apparently refused to bow down to Sony’s suggestion to change the game play, save system and the difficulty of the game. Nobody expected the game to be such a super hit title. That’s why Atlus and not Sony distributed the game in North America.

Since the game was a hit Sony is rumored to have a first look at the sequel. If there is such a sequel and From software is unable to develop it then Sony would probably use an in-house developer. Hopefully Dengeki Online is not hinting at Demon Souls 2 in fall 2010 as that would be a bit rushed.

The players will be able to switch on to the Ultra mode if their hardware permits them after issue 17. Images revealed show several before and after features of Issue 17 and includes the next free expansion called Dark Mirror.

The next major release for the game is Going Rogue which was made with the Ultra mode in mind which should have even better graphics.

Issue 17 also includes new badges, new missions and new player emotes. Epic Archetypes are now available at level 20. There are also improvements and additions to Mission Architect and enhancements to UI and game systems.

Ncsoft also announced that the people who pre-order Going Rogue will also get access to Dual pistols and Demon Summoning power sets in March and April. Getting the Going Rogue: Complete Edition will ensure that buyers receive an exclusive item pack that will be available in July when the game goes live. It will include Alpha- and Omega-themed auras, Alpha and Omega themed costumed sets, four stance emotes and the Shadowy Presence invisibility power

28.53% of Steams users use Windows 7 as their operating system as compared to 27.91 for Vista. Rest use XP of course.

Vista was released in January 2007 whereas Windows 7 released in October 2009. Thus it has overtaken the previous version of Windows in just a few months, at least among the PC gamers. As many games today demand Steam these days it can be safely assumed that Steam users represent hardcore PC gamers.

After the initial criticism of Vista it has calmed down recently. It gives hassle free gaming on the PC but it could be guessed that Windows 7 is just better. Reasons for it still remain to be figured out.

The problem as is faced by the PC games copying is that people do make the illegal copies of the games and then sell them, illegally and so, the gaming companies today have put the copyright protection measures with the CDs and the DVDs of the games. And so using them continuously you damage them.

The copyright protection measures as are used by the companies are very simple and have to do something with the encryption of the DVD and only specified sort of software can read these measures. Faced with outcries, attempted boycotts and other such protests and controversies, Valve has brought us the much anticipated sequel to the hugely successful original game just a year later. Even within the fan-base of the game there seemed to be a rift in opinion; some believing the new game release was too soon and support for the old game would suffer as a result, while others felt that the second game should have been released as downloadable content for the first game at no additional charge. Was the sequel warranted? Was it too soon? Was it worth it?

The gameplay basics remain the same as in the original game but there is a lot of new stuff, too. There are fresh items and new weapons as well as new infected to add variety. The crescendo events have a new formula, you must move from point A to point B while fighting in order to complete them, whereas in the original game you could simply camp in a corner. You also can no longer push away the infected indefinitely; after a few hearty shoves you are faced with a cool-down timer. Valve took many thing into consideration and many steps in order to breathe new life into an old formula.
